A vanpool consists of at least 7 commuters who rideshare to and from work in
vans provided by RideFinders for a low monthly fare. One commuter
is the primary driver van and the other commuters are the riders,
with at least one rider also serving as a back-up driver.
Primary Driver
The primary driver is responsible for driving the van and paying the vanpool's monthly
lease cost that includes the maintenance, insurance and administrative
costs. However, this lease cost is covered by the monthly fares that the riders pay to
commute in the van. In return for a free commute, the primary driver is
responsible for the administration of the vanpool, which includes:
| •
|
Maintaining and submitting monthly vanpool mileage and ridership information
|
| •
|
Collecting monthly vanpool fares from passengers, and submitting lease and fuel
payments
|
| •
|
Fueling, washing and obtaining preventative maintenance for the van
|
| •
|
Ensuring riders adhere to vanpool rules
|
Riders
The riders pay a monthly fare that covers the primary driver’s monthly lease
cost and the vanpool’s monthly fuel and car wash costs.
Back-Up Driver
At least one rider must also serve as the back-up driver of the
van when the primary driver is unable to drive. The back-up driver(s) may
also share the driving duties with the primary driver.
